Eduardo Hernandez will face a new opponent tonight.

The once-beaten junior lightweight Hernandez will now face Hector Garcia at the Cintermex in Monterrey, Mexico. The 10-round bout will precede the main event bout between super middleweights Diego Pacheco and Manuel Gallegos.

Both fights will stream live on DAZN (8 p.m. ET/ 5 p.m. PT).

At Thursday’s weigh-in, both fighters weighed in at 137 pounds.

Hernandez was originally scheduled to face unbeaten Joniker Tovar of Venezuela, but the fight was scrapped after Tovar reportedly had visa issues that prevented him from entering Mexico.

The 25-year-old Hernandez (33-1, 30 knockouts), who resides in Mexico City, recently signed a promotional deal with Matchroom Boxing. He had previously been in a dispute with Probellum and had fought under the Golden Boy and Promociones del Pueblo banners.

In his last bout on September 3, which also took place on a Matchroom Boxing card, Hernandez stopped previously-unbeaten Jorge Mata Cuellar in the fifth round. Less than three months before the win over Mata, Hernandez stopped once-beaten Jorge Castaneda in the opening round.

Entering tonight’s fight against Garcia, Hernandez has won his last five bouts since losing by knockout to Roger Gutierrez in July 2019.

Garcia (20-7-4, 13 KOs) took the fight against Hernandez earlier this week. He had been scheduled to fight later this month in his hometown of Tijuana.

In his last bout on March 10, Garcia knocked out Abel Cruz Mendoza in the second round. The 28-year-old is unbeaten in his last 10 bouts, including back-to-back draws against Golden Garcia (October 2019) and Joseph Adorno (January 2020). Both Garcia and Adorno were unbeaten when they entered their respective fights against Hector Garcia.

Garcia’s most notable bouts of his career was a unanimous decision loss to Devin Haney in April 2017 and a decision loss to Juan Carlos Burgos four months later.
