USA Basketball announced today that Breya Cunningham has been added to the 2023 USA Women’s U19 National Team. Cunningham, an incoming freshman at the University of Arizona, was a participant at trials for the U19 National Team that were held May 13-15 in Colorado Springs.

Recently, Cunningham was a member of the inaugural USA women’s team at the 2023 Nike Hoop Summit. The U.S. defeated the World Team 100-79.

Cunningham has experience with several USA junior national teams. In 2022, she won gold with the USA at the FIBA U17 Women’s World Cup. Her first gold came at the 2021 FIBA Women’s U16 Americas Championship.

Aaliyah Del Rosario is no longer able to participate.

Including Cunningham, the 2023 USA Women’s U19 National Team includes Madison Booker, Jadyn Donovan, Joyce Edwards, Hannah Hidalgo, Londynn Jones, Chloe Kitts, Talana Lepolo, Cotie McMahon, Kiki Rice, Grace VanSlooten and Allie Ziebell

The roster includes athletes who enrolled early or were college freshman in 2022-23 and members of the high school graduating classes of 2023 or 2024. Athletes eligible for this team must be U.S. citizens, born on or after January 1, 2004.

The team was selected by the USA Basketball Women’s Junior National Team Committee and will reconvene for training camp in Colorado Springs on July 2.

Joni Taylor (Texas A&M University) will serve as the USA’s head coach along with assistants DeLisha Milton-Jones (Old Dominion University) and Teri Moren (Indiana University).

The 2023 FIBA U19 Women’s World Cup features 16 teams. The U.S. tips Group B play with Mali on July 15 at 12:15 p.m. ET. Action continues on July 16 against Germany at 12:15 p.m. ET and on July 18 with a matchup against Chinese Taipei at 12:15 p.m. ET. The knockout stage of the competition begins on July 21.
