USA Basketball finalized the 12-member 2023 USA Women’s AmeriCup Team following two days of training camp in Colorado Springs. The team will compete at the 2023 FIBA Women’s AmeriCup July 1-9 in León, Mexico.\n
The 2023 USA Women’s AmeriCup Team members are Janiah Barker, Lauren Betts, Chance Gray, Abbey Hsu, Rickea Jackson, Raven Johnson, Deja Kelly, Rayah Marshall, Charisma Osborne, Laila Phelia, Angel Reese and Jewel Spear.

As previously announced, eight athletes were selected to the team following trials in May, while six athletes were invited to training camp to compete for the remaining roster spots.

Betts, Jackson, Johnson, Marshall, Osborne, Phelia, Reese and Spear were selected to the team in May, while Barker, Gray, Hsu and Kelly complete the roster.

The squad includes five athletes who have claimed a combined seven gold medals as members of various USA Basketball teams. Barker is a gold medalist at the 2019 FIBA U16 Americas Championship and 2021 FIBA 3×3 U18 World Cup. Betts was a member of the 2019 U16 National Team and added a second gold at the 2021 FIBA U19 World Cup alongside Spear. Jackson secured gold at the 2019 3×3 U18 World Cup, while Osborne earned the 2018 FIBA U17 World Cup title.

The team was selected by the USA Basketball Women’s Junior National Team Committee.

The 2023 USA Women’s AmeriCup Team is led by head coach Kamie Ethridge (Washington State University) and assistants Aaron Johnston (South Dakota State University) and Katrina Merriweather (University of Cincinnati).
The United States will face Argentina, Brazil, Cuba and Venezuela as part of Group A. The U.S. opens pool play against Venezuela on July 1, followed by Argentina on July 2 and Brazil on July 4 with all three games tipping off at 4:40 p.m. ET. The USA closes pool play facing Cuba on July 5 at 2:10 p.m. ET.

If the USA advances, quarterfinals are scheduled for July 7 followed by semifinals on July 8 and the medal games on July 9. Game times and broadcast information will be announced later.

Since the event’s inception in 1989, the United States has captured four Women’s AmeriCup gold medals, including titles in 2019 and 2021. In addition to the United States, Argentina, Brazil, Canada, Colombia, Cuba, Dominican Republic, Mexico, Puerto Rico and Venezuela will participate in the 2023 FIBA Women’s AmeriCup.
